Members' Observations - M42

M42, nebula CCD image
Paul McGale imaged M42 with a 100 mm lens and an MX516 CCD camera on 17 October 2000 at 02:00 BST.

M42 is the Great Nebula in Orion. An area of star formation, it is visible to the naked eye and is a spectacular sight in binoculars and small telescopes.
