Members' Observations - IC434

IC434 and Horsehead Nebula
John Noble photographed IC434 through an LX10 Schmidt Cassegrain telescope from Northumberland during late December 2000. He used Kodak Ektachrome E-200 film, pushed to 640 ASA, and an exposure of 30 minutes at f/6.3.

IC434, the large are of nebulosity in the image above, is in the constellation of Orion. It is best known for the Horsehead nebula cloud, clearly visible at the right hand side. Also visible, in the lower part of the image, is the NGC 2024 nebula.
